@footLogic True, that is why we call it an alternative to a “granny scooter” not a replacement. If you need an indoor scooter, get an 4mph electric scooter, but if you want to travel 4 miles in around 8 minutes rather than an hour then the Trippi is worth a look at.

My mother and sister both have severe arthritis and have required total knee replacements. They have difficulty getting in and out of any vehicle. I ordered the CarCaddie (and the “Handybar” also available from Amazon.com) for my car to see if it would help them. My 82 year old mother said it was the easiest she’d gotten out of a car in years. We liked them so much that I then ordered another of each for my mother’s car and the CarCaddie for my sister’s (her car lacks the “U” shaped striker plate in the door frame to accomodate the Handybar.) Now I don’t have to transfer them back and forth between vehicles. Your car must have a metal frame over the top of the window when you open your car door for this to attach to.

craigslist.org is the new eBay, but there are no listing fees (except for job postings) it’s a wonderful thing. if you don’t find your ramp, maybe you can find a boyfriend on there to help you lift your scooter into your van.

It looks nowhere near as nice the picture. It's a basic unlined nylon hook-and-loop closed bag with a couple extra pockets. If it were priced at $10.00, it might be worth it. It will do until I can get something better, though, so I'm keeping it.

I was skeptical about the Genie being able to lift my thick 13″ mattress, but, because of medical reasons, thought I’d give it a try. I’m sleeping like a log by lifting the head about 1″. It can lift it the full way for reading as well. I love it.

It is a bit loud, but you don’t need to use the pump all the time as it keeps the air pretty well. If you sleep alone on a queen bed, it does get a bit lopsided if you stay on one side, but if you move slightly to the middle, it isn’t a problem.

I have a queen bed, if you sleep single the side you are on suppresses to my weight but while the empty side of the bed inflates, causing for an uneven sleeping service. I find I have to sleep in the middle of the bed and even then movements one way or another recreate the problem. Lastly, the incline forces the mattress to slide towards the bottom of the bed, if you don't have a foot board the mattress will continue to slide until it is completely off of the Mattress Genie. Beyond that, the product does as advertised.

If you plan to take it traveling, it is very bulky and heavy. the compressor is noisy. Some mattresses will not bend so it puts you at a very steep incline and sometimes the mattress or you will slide down!! If you try to use it on top of the mattress as a pillow, you have to fill it completely or you will sink into it.

Again, if you use it at home in a permanent situation, it is a good choice.

She is now able to transfer in and out of the car much more easily. She says it is the easiest she’s been able to do so in years. We liked both products so much that we ordered another of each so that we don’t have to remember to move them between cars. Do remember to check to be sure your car has a “U” shaped striker plate on the door frame as that is where it fits. Luckily we haven’t needed the emergency features (seatbelt cutter and window breaker), but it is nice to know they are there, too.
